Matching abc's

On Wednesday and Thursday, the children worked on cutting out letters and matching them to their partner (uppercase & lowercase).

Computer Lab

Each week we go to the computer lab once and learn how to use a computer and play learning games on them. This week the students learned at www.starfall.com

Centers week 3

This is our third week of doing learning centers. Learning centers are a time to learn how to cooperate and work with a team. We really encourage children to be independent learners during this time. Centers are based off of play with curriculum incorporated into them. This week our four centers are...
1. play-dough and creating letter shapes
2. introduction to linking cubes and making patterns
3. Candy Land with Letters
4. Pattern Blocks

In the next couple of weeks we will bring in reading groups during center times. One group will be working with the classroom teacher while the other students are working on learning concepts in their groups. We will rotate through each day, all week long so all children get a turn with Mrs. Hayden.

Have a great day!

Learning Letters

The past two weeks, we have spent a large amount of time learning our letters and sounds. Here are some photos of us working on our letters in different ways. We had a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom unit to help us learn, we did art projects with letters, rolled dice and matched it with the letter, and many more fun activities! Enjoy the photos.

Pete the Cat

Here we are creating our own Pete the Cat. The students loved learning about our friend, Pete. Pete is not scared of school or getting his shoes dirty but different things! He doesn’t worry. It was fun to see the children be creative with this project, it’s a line free project. The kids do all the cutting to create the cat, no lines to follow!

Centers

In Kindergarten, we spent time learning how to play with good manners. We do many groups or center activities to learn and enforce the behaviors we expect to see. Below are pictures from our first two days of centers/win time. The children explore with different manipulative. While the children are also learning our expectations, we are building our stamina for working in small groups independently! If they need help, they are encouraged to ask a friend in their group.

Mary Wore Her Red Dress

One of our books this week is, Mary Wore Her Red Dress. After we read the story the students had the opportunity to make their own Mary out of paper and a stick!
